Nigerian Police Arrest University Student For Throwing Day-Old Baby From Three-Storey Building

September 11, 2023 NEWS The lifeless body of the baby was reportedly found in the early hours of Saturday near Hall IV of the female hostels by a passerby. A female student of the Gombe State University has been arrested for allegedly killing her day-old baby by throwing the baby from the second floor of the three-storey female hostel building in the university. The lifeless body of the baby was reportedly found in the early hours of Saturday near Hall IV of the female hostels by a passerby who raised the alarm when it was discovered that the baby was already dead following the injury sustained in the right leg.The Public Relations Officer of the university, Mohammed Abubakar, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said that the mother of the dead baby had been handed over to the police.Abubakar said, “It is confirmed that a baby was thrown down from a height in one of the female hostels, it is a serious action and the university is investigating it and disciplinary action will be taken on it because it is a crime to murder a baby.“If it is a matter of delivering the baby now there is no problem but throwing an innocent day-old baby to death is a crime.”The spokesperson of the university also said that the school security operatives who arrested the culprit have handed her over to the police.Meanwhile, efforts to confirm the incident and the identity of the female student from the police failed as the Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar, did not answer calls made to his phone number.TOPICSCRIME
