BAREILLY: A 30-year-old man was arrested following a police "encounter" on Wednesday for allegedly raping a two-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur district. The parents of the toddler had filed an FIR in the matter late on Tuesday night.The girl child, whose father is a farmer, was playing outside her house around 4 pm when she went missing. Her parents searched for her and found her at a secluded place after around two hours in critical condition. She was bleeding profusely.The police were called and the girl was taken to district hospital for treatment, from where she was referred to a higher centre in Moradabad owing to her grave situation.According to police officials, the accused lives near the temple where his father is a priest and is often seen performing prayers and rituals with him in the temple. Police said the locals alleged that the accused is a drug addict. Rampur SP Ashok Kumar said, "After getting information about the incident, we rushed to the village and saw that the condition of the girl was critical and saving her life was more important. She is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.""Several teams were deployed to nab the accused. He got shot in his right leg during the encounter. He will be sent to jail after treatment.
